French Open 2022: Experienced men’s doubles pairing of Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop progressed to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros on Thursday. Sania Mirza will be in action later in the day in women’s doubles.

Rohan Bopanna and his Dutch partner Matwe Middelkoop progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of men’s doubles at French Open 2022 after a routine 6-3, 6-4 win over the French-Kazakzhstan pairing of Fabrice Martin-Andrey Golubev on Court 3 on Thursday, May 26.
Rohan Bopanna, ranked 27 and Middelkoop, ranked 39, are seeded 16th at the French Open as the experienced pair can pose a threat in the men’s doubles field. They had dispatched local wild cards Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg and Luca Van Assche 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round.
Rohan Bopanna, who had won the French Open title in the mixed doubles field along with Gabriela Dabrowski in 2017, paired up with Midddelkoop in th clay season. The two senior campaigners played the ATP 250 event in Belgrade in April before returning to team up at the Italian Open. Notably, Bopanna had reached the semi-final of the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this season with Jammie Murray.
Meanwhile, India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan and his American partner Hunter Reese were up against 6th seeds Wesley Koolhoof and Neal Skupski in the men’s doubles second round.
Meanwhile, Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka have been seeded 10th and they open their campaign against Italy’s Jasmine Paolini and Martina Trevisan on Thursday.
