Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League on Saturday afternoon. He took to Twitter to say that this would be his last IPL and he thanked his franchises Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians for what he called wonderful years.
However, as fans started celebrating the career of the domestic stalwart, the Hyderabad cricketer deleted his tweet, sending the fans into a state of tizzy. Amabati Rayudu has been a rock in the Chennai Super Kings for a career that spanned 13 years in the Indian Premier League. At the age of 36, he was bought for a massive price of Rs 6.75 crores by Chennai Super Kings after an intense battle with SunRisers Hyderabad.
Ambati Rayudu using Twitter right. I would have loved to create chaos if I was a celebrity too.

Rayudu has been with Chennai since 2018 and has played a few classic knocks in the IPL history. In the 2021 season, Rayudu, well beyond prime, produced a jaw-shattering 72* off just 27 balls to propel Chennai to a mammoth 218 runs his former team Mumbai Indians. Chennai though, would end up losing the game due to a Kieron Pollard masterclass.
A bonafide IPL legend, Rayudu is ranked 12th in the list of all time high scorers list with 4187 runs from 187 matches.
Reacting to the news of Rayudu’s retirement, Chennai Super Kings’ CEO Kasi Viswanathan quashed the development, stating that Rayudu will continue to play for CSK, even in the next edition of the league. He confirmed to IndiaToday that Rayudu will not be retiring and will continue to be there for CSK beyond the 2022 season.
