HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rajat Patidar has been unbelievable for RCB, says Hazlewood
  • Patidar became first uncapped to score a hundred in IPL knockouts
  • Any of 11 players can be match-winners for us: Josh Hazlewood

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Josh Hazlewood hailed Rajat Patidar ahead of IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals, saying that the youngster has been unbelievable for the Faf du Plessis-led side.

Patidar, who went unsold in the February auction earlier this year, took the Lucknow bowlers apart as he became the first uncapped to score a hundred in IPL knockouts. Patidar rose to the occasion and reached his first T20 century, from just 49 deliveries, with a six. Notably, the young batter was drafted into the side midway through the IPL edition as an injury replacement for Luvnith Sisodia in the first week of April.

RR vs RCB, IPL 2022 Qualifier Live Updates

“The feeling has been good in the group. The feeling is we have some momentum from the last two games despite them being spaced out,” Hazlewood told broadcasters ahead of Qualifier 2 vs RR.

“It has started to turn out a little in our way. I just stick to my role. All the 11 players stick to their roles we have a good chance of winning this game. Don’t just get swept away.

“I think everyone is a little different as to what works for them. Got hit for a couple of sixes. Then focused on my strengths. It is a bit of a positive as we are not stuck in one city due to the bubble.

“Our batting has come along well. Any of the 11 can be match winners. Patidar has been unbelievable. He takes the game on. He gets us on the front foot going into the last 10,” Hazlewood added.
